PATE'S TRIUMPH AGAIN AT MAY DENT SCHOOLS TOURNAMENT

The May Dent tournament was held at Cheltenham Ladies College on Saturday 18th May. Twelve school teams from around the county took part in the event which is held annually in memory of the former mayor of Cheltenham and chair of Gloucestershire Counity Netball Association.

The winners and runners up of the two sections played off in semi-finals to give the eventual finalists, High School for Girls in Gloucester and Pate's Grammar School. A tense final saw Pate's triumph for the second year running, to the delight of Caroline Mackenzie, who is ending her coaching role after many years' association with the school as a teacher and netball coach, "this will be my last May Dent tournament, and it is great to leave on a high note".

Hamper Scamper 2016 - the Results!

Hamper Scamper

Christmas is always seen as a special time of year, but this is not the case for everyone. The expense and expectation can place a real strain on any family, but particularly those living in poverty, or facing homelessness or family breakdown. There are also many lonely and vulnerable young people and adults who simply have nobody to be with at this time of year.

Gloucestershire Netball is proud to support Hamper Scamper, CCP’s Christmas Giving Scheme, designed to spread a little cheer to some of the most disadvantaged children, young people, families and vulnerable adults at Christmas. This year, we asked you to donate family hampers (or smaller hampers if you cannot supply all the items) containing the following items.

A massive 1,065 food hampers went out to disadvantaged families, young persons and the elderly throughout Gloucestershire this year and over 3,000 presents to children. It was a massive undertaking but well worth the effort.

A big thank you to the clubs that were involved in collecting food for Hamper Scamper, with special thanks going to United, Tigers, Hucclecote and Survivors.

A match and two training balls have been awarded to Hucclecote who collected the most food this year!
