Netball is bouncing back in Stroud

Back to Netball

Enjoyed playing netball at school? Stopped playing and would love to start again? Looking for a fun, new activity? If you answered yes to any of the above then Stratford Park Leisure Centre's Back to Netball programme is just what you're looking for.

Back to Netball is designed to provide a gentle introduction to the sport for female players over 16 years of age. Sessions are coach led and cover basic skill development and court play. The emphasis of the sessions is learning new skills and having fun whilst playing.

The first of the ten weekly sessions is this Thursday (13th January) at 9am at Stratford Park Leisure Centre, Stroud. Experienced coach and player Charlotte Olley is running the sessions. Rachel Bussey, Gloucestershire Netball Development Officer comments:

"Back to Netball is a fantastic way for women to re-introduce themselves back into the game. Not only are they surprised how quickly they develop skills but also how much they improve their fitness levels and have fun, demonstrating why netball is among the top 10 women's participation sports in England."

Lesley Thomas, Gloucestershire County Netball Association Chair, is excited about this new programme in the County and comments:

"This is a great opportunity for ladies who may have lost touch with the game since school, or may have recently moved to the area and want to make new friends, while getting fit at the same time. Netball is a fantastic team sport which can be played by all ages, shapes and sizes. At the end of the sessions we would like to encourage players to join a local team."

Whether it is about rediscovering sporting abilities you forgot you had or getting active again, these sessions cater for all abilities. Get fit, have fun and make friends through Back to Netball.
