On 25th & 26th May 2019 a group of former netballers from Dowty Netball Club organised a whole weekend of events including; a walking netball festival, skittles, white elephant, tombola, raffle and live music followed by Sunday lunch and a quiz at Tewkesbury Rugby Club. The event was co-ordinated by a group of fellow friends and netballers of Sally Collins Moss who sadly died on 13th December 2018 in Spain, after becoming unwell and was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in July 2018. 5 teams entered the walking netball tournament held at the Tewkesbury Rugby Club. This is a new initiative started in Tewkesbury Sports Centre in January and is sponsored by England Netball. Gloucester Ladies Netball Club, newly formed Malvern Walking Netball and Tewkesbury Walking Netball, Tewkesbury ladies rugby club and a team comprised of former members of Dowty’s and Tewkesbury Ladies Netball Club called Roses who eventually won the tournament. . The charity nominated to receive the money raised for Motor Neurone Disease is My name’5 Doddie foundation £1305 was sent to the charity. Maggie Cole said “The original members of Racal and Dowty’s remain close friends to this day. Netball is a great team sports where life long friendships can be formed”.
