Gloucestershire Netball

Umpire requirements for the County League

Revised August 2023

All umpires must be qualified to a level appropriate for the type of netball being played. Umpires must also register, or be registered by their clubs, with the Officiating Group Lead before officiating.

The minimum umpiring qualifications required for netball matches played in the Gloucestershire leagues are:

  • Premier Division: B Award
  • Division 1, 2, 3: C Award
  • Division 4, 5 : Into Officiating Award
  • Under 16 Div 1: C Award
  • Under 16 Divs 2 and 3, Under 14, Under 13 and Under 12 Div 1: Into Officiating Award
  • Under 12 Div 2: Working towards Into (i.e have attended an INto Officiating course and have a mentor present)

Talent-identified umpires may be given permission by the Officiating Group Lead to umpire in a higher division whilst in training. This includes talent-identified non-qualified umpires if they have attended a relevant course.

In addition, central venue matches require umpires that are neutral for the fixture, and two scorers/timekeepers to be supplied by the teams playing.

No umpire shall officiate more than either two adult league fixtures, two Under 16 fixtures, or three other junior league fixtures, in the same day, unless in exceptional circumstances, and has been previously approved by the Officiating Group Lead.
